Adobe사가 펜티엄4에 최적화되었다는 새로운 플러그인을 발표했다는 소식이 있었다. 6.0.1 버전(업데이트)에서는 새로운 4개 파일이 갱신되었으며, 윈도 시스템과의 문제를 해결하였고 펜티엄4 시스템에 보다 향상된 성능을 지원해 주는 것으로 알려졌다.


갱신되는 4개의 파일은,


MMXCore.8bx
-contains new performance enhancements for Pentium 4 systems and all existing enhancements for other Pentium-class systems that use MMX technology.


LightingEffects.8bf
-includes all of the functionality of the existing Lighting Effects plug-in, as well as additional enhancements for Pentium 4 systems.


Shear.8bf
-resolves an out-of-memory condition.


Plugin.dll
-resolves problems with plug-ins that do not use multiple processors.



아울러 tech-report 에서는 Athlon과 펜티엄4 1.7GHz에서 새로운 포토샵 업그레이드 버전이 얼마나 성능향상을 보여주는지 테스트한 결과도 포스팅했다. 아래 이미지는 ps5bench 결과로 짧을 수록 성능이 좋은 것을 말한다. 새로운 필터로 약간의 성능향상이 있었지만, 의외로 차이는 미미했다. 여전히 Athlon가 성능에서 펜티엄4를 앞서고 있다.
